Doc's Diana
Doc Bar x Lucky Debbie Kay by Dice Gill

This website is becoming like a timecapsule - updating here I rediscover my years-old intention to go through old negatives and find the best pictures of this mare. Well, someday, sure, but maybe not just yet.

She was a kindly and sensitive mare, started here, and sent to the wrong trainer for work on cattle. I've heard talk from "the low end" about Doc Bars being flakes. Having personally known at least nine or ten I can say this is only so if people make them that way. This is mentioned indirectly on my training page, "Some people really do see how they are causing the animal to respond, others never will".

Aside from Lucky Colonel and the two farther down, I *think* Diana had another foal, which I never paid much attention to. Caroline, who bred/owned Diana, got some produce info from the AQHA, and one day I'll include that here.

The pictures of Diana on this page were all taken in 1981.There is a larger copy of picture at right, although not great - I had to print these, not my forte. Decent negatives, so it was either me or the old chemicals. Digital is *soo* much easier. Doc's Diana, by Doc Bar and out of Lucky Debbie Kay - Photo 3

below - Docs Peppy Jessica - Peppy San Badger x Doc's Diana
Jessica was one of those charismatic babies, and looked good throughout her development, never an awkward stage. She has a page of her own, although she was sold in 2004.

I think that this one was called Diana's Colonel - he was also by Colonel Freckles. He went through a couple of owners and the last I heard was in Colorado.  Diana's Colonel (Colonel Freckles x Doc's Diana by Doc Bar)

Doc Bar needs no introduction, but Diana's mother, Lucky Debbie Kay was not a prominant animal. A few might recognize her as Foxie Doc's mother, but she made others of the same kind, also by Doc bar, who proved pretty much the ideal cross for her. She has a page of sorts, another one we should document better with misplaced old photos.
